Vehicle diagnostics

Know what's wrong
before replacing
what isn't.

Responsible fault diagnosis means testing, not guessing. We investigate symptoms methodically — fault codes, live data, component tests — so repairs target the real cause.

The approach

Test first. Replace second.

Modern vehicles are networks of sensors and control modules. A fault code points at a system — it rarely condemns a part on its own. Replacing components on a hunch is how repair bills spiral.

  • Fault codes read & recorded — including freeze-frame context
  • Live data analysed — sensor behaviour checked against expectation
  • Components tested — circuits, connectors and parts confirmed
  • Findings explained — plain-English report before any repair decision

We use professional diagnostic equipment appropriate to the vehicles we work on. We do not claim access to every manufacturer's proprietary systems — where a fault requires main-dealer tooling, we'll tell you honestly.

What we investigate

Diagnostic
categories

Diagnosis / 01

Engine warning lights

The engine management light can mean anything from a loose fuel cap to a serious running fault. We read the stored fault codes, analyse live data and test the relevant components to confirm the actual cause — then explain your options clearly.

Diagnosis / 02

Starting faults

Slow cranking, clicking, or nothing at all. We test the battery, starter motor, charging system and related wiring in a logical order so the correct component is identified the first time.

Diagnosis / 03

Battery & charging

A battery that keeps going flat is often a symptom, not the fault. We test battery health, alternator output and parasitic drain to find out why.

Diagnosis / 04

Electrical issues

Intermittent faults, dead features and warning messages traced through circuits, connectors and control modules with systematic testing rather than guesswork.

Diagnosis / 05

Unusual noises

Knocks, rattles, whines and squeals assessed in context — when they happen, where they come from and what changes them — before any inspection findings are reported.

Diagnosis / 06

Performance issues

Loss of power, hesitation, poor economy or rough running investigated through fault codes, live data and mechanical checks.

Diagnosis / 07

Braking symptoms

Vibration, pulling, noise or a soft pedal inspected across pads, discs, hydraulics and the handbrake system. Symptoms can have multiple causes — we confirm before we replace.

Diagnosis / 08

Suspension issues

Knocking, uneven ride and unsettled handling checked across shocks, springs, arms and bushes, with tyre wear patterns reviewed for clues.

Symptoms can have multiple causes and proper inspection may be required. Nothing on this page is a remote diagnosis of your vehicle.
